The third Via Danubiana marker was inaugurated on Saturday, March 29, on Gostinu Beach in Giurgiu County.
More than 30 volunteers were not discouraged by the rain at the end of the previous week and chose to spend a memorable day with us on the Danube. We went kayaking, hiked along the newest themed trail inaugurated by the MaiMultVerde Association 🔹 The Hidden Treasures of the Danube – Gostinu Beach 🔹 and enjoyed the tranquility of nature, accompanied by the birds that joined us on our journey.
Gostinu Beach is an unregulated beach but is frequently visited by Bucharest locals—especially in the warm season—and by anglers during fishing season. Known as the “Vama Veche of the Danube,” Gostinu Beach is located at the end of the village bearing the same name and draws more and more tourists each year, just 20 kilometers from the city of Giurgiu. Although the area has not developed tourist infrastructure and offers no accommodation or restaurants, visitors are drawn to the peace and the joy of swimming in the Danube’s waters.
