The third Via Danubiana milestone was inaugurated on Saturday, March 29, on Gostinu Beach in Giurgiu County.
More than 30 volunteers were undeterred by the weekend rain and chose to spend a memorable day with us on the Danube. We kayaked, hiked along the newest themed trail inaugurated by the MaiMultVerde Association – 🔹 Hidden Treasures of the Danube – Gostinu Beach 🔹 and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, accompanied by the birds that followed us along the way.
Gostinu Beach is an undeveloped beach, yet frequently visited by people from Bucharest—especially during the warm season—and by fishermen during fishing season. Known as the “Vama Veche of the Danube,” it is located at the edge of the village with the same name and draws more and more tourists every year, just 20 kilometers from the city of Giurgiu. Although the area hasn’t developed in terms of tourism—there are no accommodations or restaurants—travelers are drawn here for the peace and the simple joy of swimming in the Danube’s waters.
