Starting today, we invite you on a journey through the natural landmarks that can be discovered along Via Danubiana, in Giurgiu County. This trail is a true delight for nature lovers, offering spots for birdwatching and exploring the region’s rich flora and fauna.
Protected and emblematic species of the Danube’s wildlife—such as the Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus), Saker falcon (Falco cherrug), and White-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla)—feed, nest, and thrive in this area.
The route passes through several protected natural areas, home to over 300 species of plants and an exceptionally rich fauna that includes important species of invertebrates, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals.

The Danube Promenade in Giurgiu
Developed along the Danube, the promenade offers a stunning panoramic view and is a favorite spot for locals and tourists to enjoy a relaxing outdoor walk. Equipped with walking paths, benches, and green spaces, this area is ideal for a break after a long walk, bike ride, or paddle along Via Danubiana.

Cama Community Forest
Planted in recent years by MaiMultVerde Association, just 10 minutes from the center of Giurgiu, Cama Forest covers 20 hectares where over 250,000 trees and shrubs from 55 species have been planted. The forest is also home to three murals painted by Wanda Hutira on the concrete pillars of a decommissioned bridge located on the banks of the canal that connects Giurgiu city to the Danube.
